Highway 247, Lucerne Valley, California

Went out to Lucerne Valley for a simple road closure assignment on Highway 247. I had no clue this was the highway you take to head out towards Joshua Tree National Park. Good to know for next time. Found these beautiful yellow flowers blossoming along the road and of course had to stop to take in the breathtaking view. My brother came along this time so I got a nice silhouette of him to capture the time and place.

Juggers of the Wasteland at George Air Force Base in Victorville, California

The game of Jugger is directly inspired by the movie The Blood of Heroes  and played with a foamed shaped dog skull as the ball. Players are suited in post apocalyptic attire and actual gear, wield weapons, and assume various roles. The game itself is a very real contact sport but mixes some theatrics like in wrestling.

Here’s another from my series in Mexico. I usually upload a batch from a particular day but I felt this one fit my current mood right now.

Brandon Resendez takes time to rest at his grandparent’s home in a rancho called Cerro de Santiago in Durango, Mexico. Rancho life is for the most part quiet, often sleeping and napping in the day because it’s so hot outside.

Oak Hills score a last minute goal to defeat Culver City and advance to the CIF-Southern Section Division 3 championship game.

I have to remind myself to wear more layers when covering an Oak Hills soccer match. It was freezing! Despite a lack of proper equipment and warmth I was happy to capture some photos I enjoyed personally.
